10 Million Trees Foundation

“On this day, the 10 Million Trees Foundation committed to planting 2,000 elm, ash, and oak saplings.”

Humikal Agro Trade Kft., distributor of the Humikal Universal Classic organic-mineral fertilizer granules, supported the Foundation at the perfect time by providing 40 polyethylene sacks (25 kg each). According to the Foundation, without nutrient supplements the mortality rate of saplings is usually quite high.

The rooted saplings, 50–100 cm in height, were transported to the site in large water containers. At the designated planting spots, we applied 2.5 kg of granules into each pit before placing the roots, followed by an additional 1–1.5 kg spread around the nearby soil. Thanks to rainfall the previous day, the soil was sufficiently moist, so no watering was required.

“The granules enrich the roots and soil with a blend of micro- and macroelements, reactivating nutrients that would otherwise be unavailable to plants, and enabling the saplings to process them effectively.”

We shared this mechanism on-site with Hervai Franciska, Managing Director of the Foundation, and colleague Bozzay Balázs. Both emphasized how timely and valuable this professional support was for urban tree planting, especially under the pressures of climate change.

In our view, extreme climate fluctuations are increasingly challenging even reforestation efforts. The applied nutrients strengthen root development and accelerate canopy growth. With an additional application of the Humikal Universal liquid fertilizer after six months, plants will reward the treatment with further growth. The product’s success is also due to its composition – 95% biological ingredients.

Control Samples

In line with prior discussions, we created a test group of 300 saplings, divided into three distinct but internally uniform plots. This allowed a clear comparison between treated and untreated areas, making the results visible.

The day itself was idyllic – under beautiful sunshine, even hard work felt effortless. We became so absorbed in planting that we missed the hearty pot of soup served at noon, but the fantastic company soon made up for it.

Barley and Wheat Cultivation Reference – Axiál Kft.

Location: Beled, Hungary

On a 7-hectare mixed cultivation plot, Humikal Universal liquid product was applied, while a 5.22-hectare area served as the control plot.

The treated fields showed clear positive results in crop development and yield. Grain composition was significantly improved – the crops were richer, fuller, and more vibrant.

  • Barley: Yield increased by 440 kg/ha after just a single application.
  • Wheat: Noticeable improvement in protein content, resulting in healthier, denser grains.

 

The product’s mechanism is most effective with regular use (every 6–12 months), as only consistent nutrient replenishment can transform exhausted soils into fertile growing media. Extracts of brown coal / leonardite / lignite in mineral fertilizer enable effective nutrient uptake at the roots.

The nutrient chain breaks when excessive nitrogen use destroys the soil’s natural fertility, leaving farmers to rely on artificial top-dressing to replace the lost ecological balance.

Kenyan Model Farm Program – Hungarian Agri-Innovation in Africa

The Kenyan Model Farm Program was launched with the technical support of the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture. Its goal is to test and introduce Hungarian agricultural innovations—including modern seeds, soil conditioning solutions, and regenerative input materials—under real-world Kenyan conditions.

Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration

As part of the program, leaders of the Kenyan model farm undertook a professional study trip to Hungary, establishing a collaboration with the management of Humikal Agro Trade Ltd. and researchers from the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE). The meetings were aimed at knowledge sharing, technology transfer, and the local adaptation of sustainable agricultural practices.
